Job Title: Part Time (50%) Supply Minister Position
Reports to: Direction for the day to day operations falls under the St. Luke’s Church Council; and is accountable to the Ministry and Personnel Committee (M&P) and to Regional Council #15.
Job Purpose: The Part Time Supply Minister will be required to provide a dedicated effort in preparing and conducting Church Services, guiding the Church Council, Ministry Teams and providing limited Pastoral Care within the hours allocated to the position to meet the goals established through faith and collaboration with St. Luke’s mission and vision – “Welcome, Discern, and Do”. The Part Time Supply Minister will provide these services between 1 September 2019 to 31 December 2019 while the called minister at St. Luke’s United Church is on parental leave.
Responsibilities and Duties: Within the allocated 20 hour week (See Table A for estimated allocation of hours), the Part Time Supply Minister will not be restricted to the allotted time for each task. Some tasks may take longer others may not take as long. The main responsibilities are as follows: Work with the Worship Team to plan regular and special worship services. Provide guidance to Lay Persons involved in the services. Provide direction to the Church Council, Ministry Teams, and programs to meet the policies and operational requirements of the United Church of Canada during meetings and outside of meetings when necessary. Provide leadership, guidance, prayer and nurturing support to the Pastoral Care Ministry. Provide guidance and direction to the Outreach Ministry Team when working with our community and with Missions and Services. Attend and participate in Regional Council Meetings. If time permits: Conduct services specific to marriages and funerals. Provide care for individual and families in crisis. Work and help with the faith education for the Sunday School, Youth, and Adults. Provide baptism, marriage, membership and confirmation classes. 2 Contribute to the daily operations of the church to ensure it is effective and efficient.
