Letter to all St. Luke's Families

Dear Neighbours,

We are writing to tell you about this year’s Vacation Bible School at St. Luke’s United Church in Upper Tantallon, happening July 25th to the 29th.

Do you have a young person in your life who loves to sing, dance, play and create?  Or perhaps a tween or teen who would like to assist as a Junior Leader?

The theme for this year’s VBS is ‘Know your neighbour’ and we are thrilled to welcome neighbours from the Mi’kmaw, Muslim and Buddhist Shambhala Community to come add their stories to our own Christian ones!  Participants will learn what we all have in common, not how we are different.

Our volunteers will be available each day for participant drop-off between 9:00 and 9:30.  At 9:30, the fun really gets going with music and movement with Dana and Kevin, followed by a visit from our guests and snack time.  After snacks, we have a number of Expression Stations planned, where kids can explore and reflect on what they have learned.  Then we round off the morning with Dana and Kevin, with pick-up at noon.

On our final day, Friday, July 29th we invite parents / grandparents / caregivers to join us for a pot-luck celebration lunch.

There is no charge for this program but tie-dying is one of our planned activities, so please bring along a plain or mostly un-decorated white or light-coloured T-shirt.  We would be happy to accept a pay-what-you-can donation to help cover the costs of daily snacks and supplies, or a donations of a non-perishable food items or school supplies for our local food bank.

Please visit our website or contact faithformation@stlukesunited.ca for more information or to register.  Pre-registration by July 20th is appreciated, for planning purposes.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

The St. Luke’s VBS team
