We’re in the home stretch of rehearsals for what is promising to be our most successful endeavour to date.

THE MUSIC MAN follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash may be foiled, however, when he falls for Marian the librarian, and gets his ‘foot stuck in the door’.

By turns funny, warm, romantic and touching, The Music Man is a story to be shared with every generation. Meredith Willson’s six-time, Tony Award winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences for over fifty years with such beloved songs such as “Goodnight My Someone,” “Seventy-Six Trombones,” and “Till There Was You,”. Filled with quirky characters, charmingly predictable dramatic situations, and one-of-a-kind, nostalgic score of rousing marches, a hilarious gaggle of townswomen, barbershop quartets and sentimental ballads which have become popular standards, this show is not to be missed.

We will be presenting three performances, on May 5, 6 and 7, produced by Jim Sutherland and under the well respected and talented direction of Elaine Forhan (drama), Dana Pardy and Kevin Parks (music). The cast and crew of more than forty members are all local people from pre-teens to golden-age.

Past productions, which began ten years ago with 'Charlie Brown’, have included “Annie” (2012), “The Wizard of Oz” (2013), “Oliver" (2015) and “Fiddler on the Roof” (2016). This year, for the first time, we’re inviting Sponsors to partner with us and to raise the impact of this very popular community entertainment to another dimension.
